Anna and Nicky’s wedding at Roundthorn Country House was a brilliant day from start to finish. Relaxed, sunny, and full of good people, exactly the kind of wedding that’s great to photograph.
This was also my first time photographing at Roundthorn Country House, and it definitely lived up to expectations. With clear blue skies all day and incredible views across the Cumbrian countryside, it was a pretty perfect setting for summer wedding celebrations.
A Relaxed Morning Getting Ready at Home
The day started at home with Anna getting ready alongside family and friends. The whole morning was really chilled with plenty of laughs.
The preparations did overrun a little but one of the nicest parts of the morning was how close everything was. St. Mary's Church was only about a 30-second walk from the house, which made the transition from preparations to ceremony feel really easy and relaxed.

After the church service and Anna and Nicky came back out of the church, guests were ready with confetti outside, which always makes for one of the best parts of the day to photograph.
After a short time greeting guests with all those lovely moments to capture with the hugs, the laughs and all the joy we set off for a short journey to Roundthorn Country House.
Roundthorn Country House Wedding Reception
As a wedding venue in Cumbria, Roundthorn Country House has some amazing views overlooking the Eden Valley, and with the weather we had, we were able to make the most of the outdoor space throughout the day. It’s easy to see why it’s such a popular venue for weddings near the Lake District.
Anna and Nicky were great to photograph all day because they were both so relaxed and easygoing. Nothing ever felt forced, as they just enjoyed the day properly, spent time with family and friends, and had a lot of fun with it.
That relaxed atmosphere carried through the whole wedding. Everyone was really welcoming, up for a laugh, and just happy to be there celebrating with them.

For a first wedding at Roundthorn Country House, I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better day. Great weather, an easygoing couple, and a genuinely lovely group of people made it a pleasure to photograph.
