Shaun and Laura’s wedding at the Inn on the Lake was an amazing start to outdoor wedding season in the Lake District, mainly because the weather actually behaved itself for once.

Set on the edge of Ullswater, we got sunshine, clear views of the fells, and no last-minute dash for umbrellas. For anyone familiar with the Lake District, you’ll know that’s basically a minor miracle. My first outdoor ceremony of the year was an absolute beauty! This Lake District wedding venue is known for its lakeside views and outdoor ceremony space, and on this particular day, it delivered exactly what couples hope for when they plan a wedding here: sunshine, clear skies, and the fells looking their best. For a spring wedding in the Lake District, that’s about as good as it gets.

The whole day had a properly chilled feel to it. Shaun and Laura kept things simple with no overcomplicated timelines, no unnecessary fuss, just a relaxed lakeside ceremony with some of the best views you’ll find at any Lake District wedding venue. From a photography point of view, it’s ideal: good light, no stress, and people enjoying themselves instead of worrying about what they’re supposed to be doing next.

The real star of the show, though, was their daughter Connie. She ran the day (unofficially, but very effectively), and everything naturally revolved around her. Weddings are always better when they feel like a family day rather than a formal event, and this one absolutely nailed that.

Then there was Brodie, their dog, who took his role very seriously. Whether that role was guest of honour or general chaos coordinato is up for debate. He was involved from start to finish and clearly had no intention of missing anything.

The Inn on the Lake is one of those Lake District wedding venues where you don’t have to try too hard, when the weather is good the setting does most of the work for you. Between the lakeside grounds and the mountain backdrop, it is one of a setting for a wedding.

All in all, a laid-back, genuinely fun day with great people, a super cute child, and a dog who fully understood his importance.

Thanks again to Shaun and Laura for having me along, it was an absolute pleasure to be part of it.
